About Me

I’m a ballroom dance instructor with a deep love for both dance and teaching. For me, dance is more than steps and technique — it’s a powerful way to connect, express, and grow. I’ve always been drawn not only to the beauty and energy of dance, but also to the process of helping others discover what they’re capable of on the dance floor.

Teaching is at the heart of what I do. I believe that great instruction goes beyond memorizing patterns; it’s about building confidence, understanding movement, and learning how to truly enjoy dancing. Every student is different, and I take pride in meeting people where they are — whether they’re taking their very first steps, preparing for a special event, or refining skills they already have.

I taught ballroom dance for over four years at a franchised ballroom studio, where I worked with a wide range of students in both private lessons and group classes. This experience gave me a strong foundation in clear, structured instruction while also teaching me how to adapt my approach to different learning styles, personalities, and goals.

In addition to teaching, I’ve been social dancing for over twelve years. Spending so much time “in the wild” has shaped my understanding of lead and follow, musicality, and what actually works outside of the studio. This combination of professional teaching experience and long-term social dancing has helped me to develop an approach that is both technically sound and practical, helping students feel confident in real-world dancing situations.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and supportive, with a healthy dose of humor. I strive to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating progress. I have fun teaching, and I do my best to make sure my students have fun while learning!

Why I Love Teaching Social Dancing

To me, partner dancing provides a unique social joy. The spontaneous “conversation” between two dancers and the music is different every time but always drawing on the same fundamentals of rhythm and connection. I love teaching social dance because it empowers students to participate in this timeless experience — to walk onto a dance floor, connect with their partner, and move with the music. My goal is to help dancers feel comfortable and confident enough to have fun wherever they choose to dance — whether at clubs, wedding receptions, concerts, or in the kitchen.

Why I Love Teaching Wedding Dance

I find teaching wedding dance especially meaningful because dancing together brings a unique joy to the wedding day. It creates beautiful moments for couples and their families. I know for many couples, their wedding dance is their first time dancing in front of others, and it can feel like a lot of pressure. I love helping couples feel relaxed and connected during their first dance, as well as guiding parent-child dances so those special moments are heartfelt and stress-free. Whether the goal is a sweet, simple dance or something extraordinary, my focus is always on making the process enjoyable and the dance itself a moment to look forward to — and back on — with joy.
